IEDC Coordinator

The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) of GPTCKKM was established in 2016,with the objective of enabling the students to start their own entrepreneurial ventures. Students are encouraged to think out of the syllabus to identify problems, which can’t be solved, and to develop a product as outcome of solution. 

GPTC, Kunnamkulam had a culture of cultivating entrepreneurial behavior among the students during the past years. For instance, we have been utilizing the facilities provided by KSUM through IEDC in polytechnic Colleges and ED Clubs under Directorate of Industry & Commerce to inculcate entrepreneurial paradigm in students. IEDC is being formed in GPTC, Kunnamkulam since 2015 and various activities like awareness camps, training programmes, Innovation based motivational classes & technical workshops were conducted/participated in the past 3 years to achieve this objective. Main events conducted in our colleges include,

1. IEDC orientation camp (1 day) for 380 students
2. Statewide Start up i3 Open fuel programme (2 day) by Rohit Radhakrishnan, Ahemedabad for 76 students.
3. Workshop on Arduino (1 day) for 24 students.
4. Statewide Workshop on Aurdino & IOT seminar (2 day) for 82 students.

These are some of the events conducted in our campus along with other awareness camps and industrial visits.

Apart from the above, students were participated in numerous programmes in other colleges/places under the initiative of KSUM, SITTTR, ICT academy etc. 

We have been utilized the IEDC fund of 2 Lakhs effectively in these years for encouraging the students to become an innovative entrepreneur.

ACHEIVEMENTS:

A team of students, inspired by these IEDC activities, commenced a start up in 2016 named “MAKERSDOME AEROLABS”. They involved in designing & manufacturing of customized drones. Their innovative ideas (including socially relevant project like Drones for supplying medicines & Food at Flooded or natural calamity affected remote areas) have won several prizes at national & state level Hackathons/Competitions.(First prize in paper presentation at Zonal & State level by SITTTR, National level Hackathon in association with KSUM & Paytm etc.) 

MAKERSDOME startup profile is attached herewith for kind reference. They are now conducting workshops, seminars & technical sessions in various Engineering Colleges. Polytechnic Colleges & Universities (Recently at Ahamadabad University) along with their R&D works.
